This trip begins in Moab, UT. You can pair this trip with the Rocky Mountaineer rail experience with two nights in Moab. The tour begins the following morning.

The first day unfolds as the commencement of your extraordinary adventure from Moab to Cortez, promising a seamless blend of exploration and relaxation.  

Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel lobby in Moab. As you embark on the scenic route towards Cortez and Mesa Verde, anticipate enchanting landscapes and captivating pitstops.  

Throughout the day, you will have carefully selected breaks for lunch and moments of rejuvenation, ensuring you're energized and ready to absorb the wonders that await at Mesa Verde National Park. Once at the park, immerse yourself in the rich history and preserved beauty of the park, exploring the best-preserved Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites in the United States.  

As the day's exploration unfolds, you'll journey back to Cortez, where your lodging awaits.

This second day marks the continuation of your captivating journey, as you bid farewell to Cortez and set forth for the charming town of Durango.  

In the morning, the road unfolds before you as you depart for Durango, a town steeped in history and surrounded by scenic beauty. The highlight of the day awaits as you embark on the iconic Durango to Silverton train journey, a voyage that weaves through breathtaking landscapes, providing an unparalleled view of the region's natural splendor.  

Upon arrival in Silverton, savor a delightful lunch and immerse yourself in the leisurely charm of this historic town. Explore its unique character, perhaps discovering hidden gems or indulging in a moment of relaxation.  Your guide will meet you in Silverton and after an afternoon you will travel back to Durango, where you lodging awaits.

As you continue your adventure, make a visit to the Aztec Ruins National Monument, a captivating archaeological site that offers a glimpse into the ancient Puebloan culture. Explore the ruins, marvel at the intricate architecture, and absorb the rich history embedded in these sacred grounds.   

We will stop in Farmington for lunch, allowing you to savor local flavors and recharge for the remainder of your journey. Enjoy other stops and history along your route as you make your way to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Today is a day of exploration and leisure time in the historical gem of Santa Fe. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of this charming town, where every corner reveals a piece of history and culture.   

If you choose, you can begin your day by delving into the scientific history of Los Alamos, known for its association with the Manhattan Project and its contributions to nuclear science. Take time to explore the Bradbury Science Museum in Los Alamos.

As your appetite for discovery grows, venture to the Railyard District for a delightful lunch. This trendy area blends modernity with tradition, offering a unique dining experience against the backdrop of Santa Fe's distinctive charm.  

The afternoon holds a chance for some free time. Continue to stroll through downtown Santa Fe, a place where adobe buildings, vibrant art galleries, and cultural landmarks converge. Marvel at the architectural beauty of the Cathedral Basilica of St Francis of Assisi, a stunning testament to the city's rich religious heritage.

Your adventure draws to a close with a departure from Santa Fe. After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Albuquerque for your departing flight, ensuring a smooth and stress-free transition to your next destination.
