Arrive at Salt Lake City International Airport and check into the hotel

Your guide collects the group at your Salt Lake City hotel in the evening for a welcome event that includes some fun and food at an iconic film location in Salt Lake City.

Your guide picks you up first thing in the morning and takes you 100 miles west to the Bonneville Salt Flats used for filming Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007), World’s Fastest Indian (2006), and Bonneville (2008). You walk on the salt flats and take photos of this spectacular landscape.

Next, we drive another 10 miles to the border of Nevada and visit the historic Wendover Airfield used for filming Con Air (1997), Independence Day (1996), Hulk (2003), and the Amazon series Fallout (2024). Not only can you stand where Bill Pullman gave his impassioned speech as President of the United States, but you also get to go inside the Jailbird (one of two planes used as props for Con Air) and visit Maximus’s Brotherhood of Steel barrack. Additionally, you learn the history of this important Manhattan Project site and WWII training facility.

After lunch, we travel to Antelope Island, the largest island in the Great Salt Lake and a location for one of the first two movies filmed in Utah, The Covered Wagon (1924). This state park is teeming with wildlife including one of the largest wild herds of bison whose ancestors were featured in that 1924 silent film. The island was also used for Touched By an Angel (S2 E6) and an episode of Ghost Hunters (S25 E3). We visit the island’s historic ranch and look for wildlife. 

We end the day with a private movie trivia and experience night.

After breakfast, we drive through Utah Valley with a stop at Lehi Roller Mills from Footloose (1984) and see a few other film locations including driving by the former Osmond Studios on our way to Sundance Resort, Robert Redford’s former property on the backside of Mount Timpanogos, the iconic backdrop for Jeremiah Johnson. 

We’ll then enjoy lunch on a ride of the historic Heber Valley Railroad, a train and tracks that have been used in movies and television for years. These include Laney & Diedre Rob a Train (2017), Outlaw Trail: The Treasure of Butch Cassidy (2006), Escape from Germany (2024), and Touched by an Angel (1994-2003). Heber Valley includes film locations of Dumb and Dumber (1994), Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984), and a host of holiday rom-coms including Mistletoe Mixup (2021) with the Lawrence brothers, Enchanted Christmas (2017), and Checked Inn to Christmas (2019).

Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a tour of Utah Film Studios where Yellowstone (2018-), Wind River (2017), and more have been filmed in Park City. We'll also drive down historic Main Street and learn of the mining and ski history while seeing the Egyptian Theater, a main venue for the Sundance Film Festival for more than 40 years.

We end the day back in Salt Lake City to visit film locations for Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde (2003), High School Musical 1-3, Halloween 4-6, Dumb and Dumber (1994), Touched by an Angel (1994-2003), The Sandlot (1993), Carnival of Souls (1962), and more. This city tour includes a visit to East High School, Trolley Square, the Utah State Capitol Building, and a couple of other film locations. 

We'll have one drop off time in the morning for the Salt Lake City International Airport.
